I first encountered okapis long ago at the Wild Animal Park (now Safari Park) in San Diego. Although I admired their uniqueness every time we visited, I only vaguely remember my surprise at first seeing them when I was about 7 years old. This is a book to share the delight of people, old and young, meeting okapis for the first time.
